G. B. Taylor Family Reunion
Article I.
Name and Description
Section 1.  The name of the organization shall be the G. B. Taylor Family Reunion (hereinafter referred to as “The Reunion”).

Section 2.  The Reunion shall be comprised of all G.B. Taylor descendants and relatives (“family members”) residing in any state within the continental United States.  Family members who are not associated with the Reunion and not receiving communication from the Reunion should contact the Reunion President or visit the Reunion website at

Section 3.  Family members residing in the states below are responsible for hosting the Annual Reunion (“Planning Committee”) and communicating with family members in other states to ensure inclusion in the Reunion experience. :

3.    Georgia
4.    Florida
5.    South Dakota
6.    Maryland
7.    District of Columbia
8.    Virginia
Article II
Purpose and Function

Section 1.  The Reunion shall strive to provide a source of communication and support for its family members to enhance family unity and family prosperity.

Section 2.  The Reunion shall provide a mechanism to encourage educational, social and spiritual development.

Section 3.  The Reunion shall be a liaison and a coordinating agent for its family members.
Article III

Section 1.  Membership shall consist of G.B Taylor descendants and relatives (“family members”).

Section 2.  Family members must be willing to support the organization and encourage family development and unity.

Section 3.  Family members are in good standing if they support  The Reunion spiritually, financially,  and through active participation.
Article IV.
The Annual Reunion

Section 1.  The Annual Reunion shall be held during the second weekend in August or as designated by the family members at the business meeting at the Annual Reunion.

Section 2.  The time and place shall be determined at the business meeting held during the Annual Reunion.

Section 3.  Special meetings shall  be called by the Reunion President or upon the request of any ten family members in good standing.

Section 4.  An act of the majority of family members present at any special meeting shall be an act of the Reunion, subject to approval at the next scheduled business meeting at the Annual Reunion.
Article V.
Financial Requirements

Section 1.  Individual Dues should be paid by every family member to enhance the yearly activities or programs of the Reunion such as sending condolences to bereaved family members, supporting the website or funding any deficit of the Annual Reunion or any other purpose designated by the Reunion.  Dues should be sent to the Reunion Treasurer on or before March 31st of each year.  The dues are as follows:
Adults 21 and older $20.00
Youth 7 – 20 $10.00

Section 2.  Annual Reunion Fees should not exceed $50 and should be paid by March 31st to the Reunion Treasurer.  Information on registration and attendance at the Annual Reunion will be sent by the Planning Committee no later than March 1st of each year.  The cost of registration, location, hotel information and other pertinent information should be included.  The Planning Committee hosting the Annual Reunion should submit a budget to the Reunion President to ensure that the cost of the Annual Reunion is commensurate with the fees collected.
Article VI.

Section 1.  The officers of the Reunion shall be the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  All officers shall be duly elected by the family members of the Reunion in good standing at the time of the elections.

Section 2.  The President shall be the principal representative of the Reunion and will chair all business meetings held during the Annual Reunion.

Section 3.  The Vice – President shall perform all of the duties of the President in his or her absence, and other duties as specified by the President.

Section 4.  The Secretary shall be responsible for the minutes the business meetings, all meetings called by the President, and any special meetings.  The Secretary will ensure that all meeting notices are disseminated to the family members in a timely manner.  The Secretary is also responsible for keeping a record of all dues and fees collected.

Section 5.  The Treasurer shall be responsible for receipt and disbursements of all Individual Dues and Annual Reunion fees.  A written financial report shall be made by the Treasurer at each Annual Reunion.

Section 6.  The term of office for each Officer shall be limited to four (4) consecutive years. 
Article VII.

Section 1.  The Executive Committee shall be comprised of the officers of the Reunion.

Section 2.  The Planning Committee shall be responsible for planning the Annual Reunion and will be appointed by the President.

Section 3. The Nominating Committee shall be appointed by the President during any scheduled elections and voted upon by the family members at the Annual Reunion.

Section 4. The Scholarship Committee shall be appointed by the President and shall develop guidelines and criteria for Scholarships and awards.

Section 5. The Fundraising Committee shall coordinate special fundraising activities for the Reunion as shall be appointed by the President.

Section 6.      The Technology Committee shall be responsible for the upkeep of the G.B. Taylor website, the G.B. Taylor Facebook Page and any other technology or social media related to communications to the family members.

Section 7. Other committees shall be appointed by the President, as needed.
Article VIII.
Amendment to the By-Laws

Section 1.  The By-Laws may be amended as the Reunion decides necessary.

Section 2.   Proposed amendments shall be provided in advance of the scheduled business meeting at the Annual Reunion.  

Section 3.  A vote of two-thirds of the number of family members present shall be required to pass an amendment.
